9 Ways to Bring Content Back From the Dead

funny cartoon zombieYou spend a lot of time researching and writing all those blogs and other content. Then, people read them. After which, the content dies a slow and painful death. R.I.P.

Don’t let that happen! Instead, find new ways to bring your content back to life, reach new and larger audiences, and be green, as well. It’s possible to keep content out of the graveyard when you reuse, recycle and repurpose your content.

Think about it…not everyone likes to read blogs. According to Huffington Post, “… creating other forms of content gives you an opportunity to engage people with different learning styles.”

“One of the best ways to continuously make quality content available is to repurpose your existing content. Repurposing content saves you time and allows you to get more mileage out of your efforts. Reusing what you already have in a creative way is practical and makes good business sense,” as we said in a previous Solamar post.

First consider what content is evergreen, popular, or could use a little updating. Then consider these 9 ways to give your content a new lease on life.

  1. Break it down
You can mine your blog and other content for little nuggets of useful information that are easily consumable and highly sharable on social media. Reshape your long-form articles into short-form Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn posts.

  2. Slice it, dice it, remix it
Think about dissecting your book, ebook, whitepaper, or course into separate blogs, articles, a how-to guide, or a free gift fact sheet or FAQ page for new customers.

  3. Turn it into a webinar or video
Some people prefer seeing video presentations over reading content. So why not turn your kickass blog into a kickass webinar, YouTube video, or a Google Hangout topic?

  4. Morph data into a case study
People love case studies! When you are running a test, hang on to the data and transform it into a case study to share with your readers.

  5. Produce a podcast (or a series of podcasts)
Podcasting is a great way to add personality to your brand and give your company real-live voice. Many Solamar clients have had great results with podcasts. With a little help from us, you can transform content into an interesting and relevant podcast series. Podcasting isn’t just a flash-in-the-pan. Edison Researchreported that, “One-third (33%) of all Americans 12 years of age or older now say they have listened to at least one podcast.”

  6. Author an ebook
EBooks are becoming more and more popular. According to a Pew Research study done in October, 2015, 27% of Americans read an e-book in the past 12 months—up from 17% in 2011. These days, repurposing blog posts or articles into an ebook is a clever way to create lead generation content, as recommended on Huffington Post.

  7. Reshape it into an email series
Keep people engaged with a series of emails repurposed from previous blogs. It can be like a mini-course for your fans.

  8. Create a slide deck
You don’t have to be giving a presentation to create a slide deck. When you reuse content in the form of a slide deck, it turns into a valuable marketing tool. Simply upload the slide deck to SlideShare to gain search engine traffic and potential new customers.

  9. Make infographics from old blogs
Infographics aren’t anything new. These informational images remain one of the hottest forms of content online. Your infographics can even tell a story or make complex subjects easy to understand.
